The Alliance of Independent Broker-Dealers (AIBD) is a nonprofit mutual benefit corporation founded in 1980 by a group of indepentent broker-dealers who are dedicated to jointly reviewing investment products.  The AIBD and many of its members are are headquartered in Northern California.

The AIBD provides research and ongoing tracking of direct participation products and third party asset managers.  In the early years, the member firms alternated in their responsibilities of performing the due diligence.  Today, the work of the AIBD is accomplished through the collaborative efforts of its full time staff, retained counsel, and principals or designated representatives of the member firms. 

Our services are exclusively for the members of our association.  It is not the AIBD's function to approve or disapprove products, but to provide a forum and a means for its members to coordinate and share due diligence.
