Review Process

We provide full-time, dedicated research capability that screens new deals, investigates new offerings, and provides ongoing analysis of existing sponsors and products:

  • Direct participation programs (e.g. real estate, mortgage, and oil and gas), and
  • Third-party asset managers (e.g. equity, fixed, balanced, and strategic timing).

We believe that sharing information is a more efficient procedure for both the member firms and the product sponsors.  Because products are reviewed for the benefit of the membership, the members form a consensus to review new product based on their level of interest.  Our review process generally involves:

  • Screen the product based on the member’s level of interest,
  • Review offering materials,
  • Research and analyze the product and sponsor,
  • Report to our members, and
  • Notify the sponsor when the review is complete.

All reports of the AIBD are confidential and are not available to the product sponsor or asset manager.

It is not the function of the AIBD to approve or disapprove of any product but to coordinate and share information.  Each member is solely responsible for making the decision regarding which securities it will offer and sell.
